Didactic guideline
- Title: My City Tour with Leo and Mia
- Level: A2–B1 English (Upper Primary / Early Secondary)
- Estimated duration: 6 weeks
- General purpose: Students will learn to describe their city, talk about places, give and understand directions, and use basic map vocabulary in English. Throughout the course, they will complete interactive tasks, watch short videos, follow routes, and finally create their own digital City Tour.
Target Students:
- 5th–6th grade of Primary or 1st of ESO (ages 10–13).
- Students with a basic level of English (A2) progressing to B1.
- Suitable for bilingual programs or regular English classes.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify and use vocabulary related to city places (park, school, supermarket, museum).
- Use there is / there are to describe a town or neighborhood.
- Understand and give basic directions (go straight, turn left, next to, opposite).
- Read and interpret a simple route on a map (walking directions).
- Use basic Google Maps functions (search, walking route, estimated time/distance).
- Create a simple city route with step-by-step instructions in English.
- Produce a final digital “City Tour” describing at least 3–5 places.
- Participate in oral tasks such as role plays and GPS-style challenges.
Methodology and structure: This project follows a task-based and communicative approach.
- Short texts and explanations (vocabulary and grammar).
- Videos and listening practice.
- Interactive exercises (matching, drag-and-drop maps).
- Route simulation using simplified Google Maps screens.
- Oral activities (roleplay, speaking challenges).
- A final production task: My City Tour App.
